When I saw the cover of the book, I couldn't see any connection between the title "The Giver" and the picture on it. You can see there two persons who are opposing each other and have outstreched arms. One of the persons looks like a boy, the other one seems to be an old man. There is distance between them and their gestures say something like: "Don't come any closer". None of them gives anything to the other one or has anything nearby which he could give away.
The cover doesn't give any information about what might be the theme of the book. Normally, I think this could create some suspense, because the reader wants to know what the book is about and reads it, but in this case the cover is boring so that the reader isn't interest in it.
Let's hope the content of the book will be more exciting to you. I'm sure you'll like it though. The cover -and I think you're right here- does not tell too much and leaves the reader a bit confused.

giver have the power to control the members of society(sits in a control room)
giver takes the identity of the members of society and rule about what they can feel and on what they can remember
everything that the giver allows the members of society he does by telepathies
the giver does a kind of mesmerizing
when a new giver appears the old giver dies
that's what I ment

ReplyDeleteI think the younger person on the book cover rather looks like a GIRL with a DRESS on...;) Well, I already saw some alternative book covers her which I think fit better to the book's content
